Project Overview

This was a vision project for the Infiniti brand which I worked on while interning at Nissan. I took part in developing the story, user experiences, user interactions, and user interfaces as well as the animation sequences. The Infiniti Synaptiq concept debuted at the 2014 LA Auto Show and won the People’s Choice Award.

The Design Challenge

The 2014 LA Auto Show Design Challenge was to explore the future of automobile connectivity by answering the question, “How will cars interact with us in 2029”? Entrants were asked to explore how future automotive interiors and HMIs (human-machine interface) would emotionally, safely, and conveniently connect with drivers and passengers.

Our Concept

Infiniti Synaptiq transforms an average drive from LA to Vegas into an exhilarating air, rally, and circuit triathlon. A modular pod enables drivers to hotswap into vehicles specific to each terrain. Drivers wear a symbiotic suit that monitors vitals and enables control of driving mechanics through tactile resistance. A holographic AR interface adapts easily to the driver’s needs in the most extreme situations.

Concept Video

The Infiniti Synaptiq concept was meant to generate excitement for the brand and give our audience a peek into what the Infiniti HMI experience could evolve towards in the coming future so we felt it was important to create a video to really engage people.

Here’s a taste of it in action!
